I would suggest skipping Infraworks completely. If Revit families have too many limitations then Inventor can be used for the "families" and the entire geometry should be created in Revit directly. I cannot imagine modelling a bridge in Infraworks if I cannot measure the distances, create sections, add dimensions, check elevations, display specific views etc. All the Infraworks "modelling" capabilities should be implemented into Revit. The suggested workflow with Infraworks is way too clumsy.
